GOTS is the worldwide leading textile
processing standard for organic fibers,
including ecological and social criteria,
backed up by independent certification of
the entire textile supply chain.
Having one common standard means textile processors and manufacturers can export their fabrics
and garments with one organic certification that is accepted in all major markets.
This transparency also gives consumers the power to choose truly organic products sourced from green
supply chains.
The Standard provides for a subdivision into two label-grades:
"made with (x %) organic materials" or "organic" or
"made with (x %) organic - in conversion "organic - in conversion"
materials"
No less than 70% (≥70%) of the fiber content of No less than 95% (≥95%) of the fiber
the products - excluding accessories - shall be content of the products - excluding
of certified organic origin or from the 'in accessories - shall be of certified organic
conversion' period origin or from the 'in conversion' period
The standard is used to verify organically grown raw materials from the farm to
the final product.
Intended for the sustainable labeling of clothes of mixed fiber, part of which
consists of organic cotton with a minimum 5%-maximum 95%.
There are no other restrictions on the remaining content.
The Organic Content Standard 100 covers the processing, manufacturing,
packaging, labeling, trading, and distribution of a product that contains
at least 95% certified organic cotton.
There are no other restrictions on the remaining content.
